REVIEW: Midnight Blue

Rating: ★★★★☆

L.J. Shen is known for her bad boy characters and storylines filled with angst and drama. Midnight Blue checks those boxes and gives us a twist I don't think anyone would see coming.

Midnight Blue follows the lives of Indie and Alex, two people who couldn't be more different. Alex is the typical rockstar, with an addiction to the spotlight, as well as drugs and women. He's in need of a nanny to keep him on the straight and narrow as he tours the world with his band and Indie just happens to be the perfect candidate. With a feisty attitude and a dire financial situation, Indie begins the journey that she'll soon hope to forget. Can she resist the bad boy or will she end up long forgotten like the rest of Alex's conquests?

In the beginning, I struggled to like Alex. He's completely unlikable and continues to act and make decisions that made me want to throw the book and scream. For some, Alex's attitude could cause many readers to put down this story and miss the dramatic twist that has this book ending with a bang. With that being said, the twist is what made me stick around and had me speed reading to the end. If you like a slow burn and a bad boy with an attitude, Midnight Blue is for you!
