Baseball is Back! A Review for The Ninth Inning

Writer's picture: KOKO

If you haven't read The Perfect Game series by J. Sterling, I need you to stop what you are doing and get on it! When I dove into the world of Kindle Unlimited, The Perfect Game series was the first that I read and it lead me to the many, many authors that I love today!

Just as in The Perfect Game series, The Ninth Inning takes place at Fulton State and follows the happenings of Cole Anders and Christina Travers. Cole Anders is the hotshot baseball star and Christina is the social media guru that Cole just can't seem to shake. When Cole realizes that pushing Christina away has resulted in nothing but a lonely heart and a batting slump, he decides to get her back. Too bad that Christina has other ideas.

The Ninth Inning takes a dive into college relationships and writes perfectly a journey filled with angst, humor, romance, and typical college drama.

My Takeaway

The chemistry between Cole and Christina is REAL and can be felt with each turn of the page. Their relationship is natural and real, without it being over-romanticized, and is mixed with a little drama to keep you on your toes. Alongside Cole and Christina is a supporting cast that will make you laugh on more than one occasion and help both Cole and Christina to grow and develop into the characters we can't get enough of. This really is a homerun story and I'm counting down the days to the second installment, Behind the Plate.

"Why did girls not believe the things that guys said to us? We never took their words at face value, always searching for hidden meanings or trying our damndest to figure out what he really meant when he had basically laid it out point-blank...It made us think that words were the lies and the actions were the truth."
