When I first joined the book blog and bookstagram game, everything that I read and reviewed had long been published. I noticed many other accounts reviewing books that hadn't been released and I was JEALOUS. These same accounts were winning signed copies, participating in "book tours", getting sneak peeks of covers, and so much more! I finally decided to set out on an adventure to find these magical places that give away books and help readers like myself connect with authors! Below, you'll find a variety of PR companies, influencer programs, and more that give you an opportunity to sign up for book tours, cover reveals, opportunities to read ARCs, and so much more!

NetGalley
I'm sure that if you are on bookstagram, you have stumbled across a netgalley hashtag or read a caption with it tagged a million times. NetGalley is one of the most popular ways to gain access to ARCs (Advance Reader Copies) and features hundreds of publishers and their authors. After setting up an account, you can request to read a book that catches your eye. Publishers then accept or deny your request. You are more likely to have your request accepted with a higher feedback ratio, which calculates the amount of books you've been approved for compared to how many you have provided feedback for. NetGalley recommends keeping this percentage at 80% or above.
BookishFirst
BookishFirst puts a creative twist on gaining access to new books through a raffle! On Monday, BookishFirst puts new books up on their site, along with an excerpt from the book. After reading the excerpt, you are given the opportunity to do a mini-review of that excerpt. Your mini-review is your "raffle ticket" and this ticket goes into the weekly raffle to win a copy of the book. The winners are drawn on Tuesday of the following week. Another way to gain access to books on BookishFirst is by earning points through book reviews and referrals.

Chances are, if you're reading this, you Goodreads account. If you don't, do it now! Goodreads is the perfect place to post book reviews, read reviews from others, and enter giveaways! I've had a goodreads account for quite some time now, but had didn't discover the giveaway portion until recently! Social Butterfly PR
Social Butterfly PR is a social media marketing service for independent authors. This is one of my favorite resources for gaining access to ARCs, discovering new authors, and connecting with other Indie readers. Some of the authors they represent include L.J. Shen, Rachel Van Dyken, and Colleen Hoover. After signing up with Social Butterfly PR, you'll have the opportunity to participate in cover reveals, promotional events, and so much more!
